Drill bit sizes

Okay kiddo, so you know how grown-ups use drill machines to make holes in stuff like walls and wood? Well, the drill bit is the sharp part of the machine that actually cuts the hole.

Now, just like how we use different spoons for different foods, there are different drill bits for different sizes of holes. These sizes are measured in fractions of an inch, just like how we cut cake into slices.

For example, a 1/4 inch drill bit is bigger than a 1/8 inch drill bit because 1/4 is bigger than 1/8 when we compare them like slices of cake.

Some drill bits are also made for specific materials like metal or concrete, because those materials are tougher to drill through than wood or plastic.

So when someone talks about drill bit sizes, they are basically talking about how big or small the hole they want to make needs to be. That way they can choose the right drill bit for the job and make a proper-sized hole.
