ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Drive by wire

Drive by wire is like playing a video game with a controller. Instead of using a mechanical system like a mouse, which moves the car's parts with metal wires and levers, drive by wire uses electronic signals to control the car. This means that when you push a button or move a lever, it sends a signal to a computer in the car that tells it what to do, like accelerate or brake. There are no direct connections between your foot and the parts of the car, so it feels different, but it allows for more precise control and smoother movements. It's kind of like using a remote control car, but instead of wires, the signals are sent through the air. Drive by wire is used in some modern cars, planes, and even some space shuttles!
