ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Droit de suite

Okay kiddo, imagine you're an artist and you make a really cool painting. Someone buys your painting for a lot of money, so you're happy.

Now let's say that person decides to sell your painting to someone else for even more money. You might feel happy for them, but you might also feel a little left out since it's still your painting that you made.

That's where "droit de suite" comes in. It's a fancy French word that means "right to follow." It gives artists the right to get a little bit of money each time their artwork gets sold again in the future.

So even if you sell your painting to someone else, you still get a little bit of money each time they sell it again. This helps make sure that artists can keep earning money from their work even after they sell it the first time.
