Droit du seigneur

So, a long, long time ago, in some places, there was something called "droit du seigneur". That means the "right of the lord." Basically, there were some really fancy people, called lords or nobles, who believed that they had the right to sleep with any woman they wanted on their land. They called it "the right of the first night."

It wasn't fair or nice, because it meant that if a lady got married, she might have to spend her first night with the lord instead of her new husband. It also made it hard for women to say no, because the lords had a lot of power and could punish women who didn't do what they wanted.

Thankfully, this practice doesn't exist anymore, and it is considered a very bad thing to treat people like property or to use power in that way. It's important to always treat everyone with respect and kindness, no matter who they are or where they come from.
