ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Dry lightning

Dry lightning is when lightning strikes the ground or objects on the ground but it doesn't rain. This happens when there are thunderstorms in areas where it's too dry for rain to form. Lightning is like a big spark that happens when the air gets really charged up with electricity. This can happen when clouds rub against each other and create a lot of energy. When there's enough energy, it creates lightning bolts that can travel through the air and hit the ground.

Dry lightning can be dangerous because it can start wildfires. When lightning strikes dry grass, bushes, or trees, it can start a fire that can quickly spread. That's why it's important for people to be careful during and after thunderstorms, especially in dry areas.
