Drydock

A drydock is like a big bathtub for boats and ships. When a boat or ship needs to be fixed, cleaned, or painted, they go into the drydock.

First, the water in the drydock is drained out so the boat can rest on the dry ground. Then, workers can do whatever needs to be done to the boat, like repairing the hull or scraping off barnacles.

Once the work is done, the drydock is filled with water again and the boat can be taken out. This is kind of like filling up the bathtub to wash yourself and then draining the water when you're done.

Drydocks are super important because they make it easy to fix and maintain big boats and ships without having to take them out of the water completely.
