Dual naming is when something has two names - usually one in an English language, and one in a local language. For example, Australia is the English name, and is also called 'Yamツutja' in the Anangu language. Anangu is an language spoken by Australia's original inhabitants. Dual naming is used to recognize the old names for places that have been in use for a long time. It's also to recognize and honour the cultures of the people who lived in those places first.
