ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Dummy load

A dummy load is a thing that we use to test electrical devices like radios and amplifiers. It helps to make sure that the device is working correctly. Dummy loads are a kind of resistance that looks like a plug. Electricity enters the dummy load, and after traveling through it, the electricity exits in the same way that it came in. This resistance simulates a real load (like a speaker or an antenna) and so it can help us tell if the device is working like it's supposed to.
