ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

E n-ring

Okay kiddo, an e n-ring (or "en dash" as it's sometimes called) is a special little line that helps us show a range of numbers or dates. Let's say you want to talk about the years 1990 to 2000. Instead of writing out "nineteen ninety to two thousand", we can use an e n-ring to show the range between those years. It looks like a tiny dash (shorter than a regular dash) and goes in between the two numbers - like this: 1990–2000. It's really helpful when we want to be clear about a range of things instead of writing them all out one-by-one.
