ELIZA effect

The Eliza Effect is something that happens when people talk to a computer that makes them feel like they are talking to another person. It often happens when someone talks to a computer program that uses Artificial Intelligence techniques. For example, if you ask a computer program questions, it might answer back in a way that feels like you are talking to a real person. That's the ELIZA effect! It's named after a computer program that was created back in the 1960s, called ELIZA. ELIZA was one of the first computer programs ever created that used Artificial Intelligence to try and act like a human.
