ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

EOT crane

An EOT crane stands for Electric Overhead Traveling crane that looks like a big robot with long arms and a hook at the end. The robot-like parts are made from metal and powered by electricity. This crane is used to lift heavy and big things, like cars or boxes, from one place to another.

Imagine you have a big toy box full of toys that you want to move to another room. You could pick up the box with your hands, but if it was too heavy, you might need help from a friend or a parent. Now, imagine the toy box is so big that not even your friend or parent can lift it, that's where the EOT crane comes in.

The crane can help move the heavy box by using its long arms to reach over to the box and wrap the hook around it. The crane can then lift the box up off the ground and move it across the room to its new location. The crane is controlled by a person who sits in a little room nearby, and they use buttons and joysticks to move the crane around and lift or lower the hook.

And just like your toy box has to be in the right place for the crane to reach it, things that need to be lifted by an EOT crane have to be in the right spot, too. That's why these cranes are usually put up high in factories or warehouses, so they can reach everything that needs to be moved.

Overall, EOT cranes are like big robots that help move heavy things from one place to another. Pretty cool, right?
