Earth Impact Database

Okay kiddo, so the Earth Impact Database is kind of like a big book that grown-ups use to keep track of all the times that big rocks from space crashed into our planet.

You know how sometimes you see shooting stars in the sky? Well, those shooting stars are actually really small rocks from space that burn up in the Earth's atmosphere before they hit the ground. But sometimes, really big rocks can make it all the way through the atmosphere and hit the ground with a big BOOM!

When that happens, scientists want to know all about it so they can study what happened and try to prevent it from happening again. So they use the Earth Impact Database to keep track of all the times that has happened in the past. They write down where and when it happened, how big the rock was, and what kind of damage it caused.

It's like a big history book, but instead of writing about wars or famous people, it's all about rocks from space hitting the Earth. Pretty cool, huh?
