Eastern Orthodoxy is one of the main branches of Christianity. It is different from other branches like Roman Catholic and Protestant because Eastern Orthodoxy bases its beliefs and practices on traditions that are hundreds of years old. It is similar in some ways to Roman Catholic beliefs, but it is not the same. Most Eastern Orthodox churches have Bible readings, worship services, and they teach the same basics of Christianity—belief in one God and the importance of following Jesus’ teachings. The most major difference is that Eastern Orthodoxy is not as centralized as Roman Catholicism, so each church practices differently.
