Edda

Okay kiddo, an edda is a really old book from a long time ago in a place called Iceland. It's filled with stories about gods and heroes and all sorts of magical things that happened in those times.

The people who wrote these stories down wanted to keep them alive for a long time so that they could be passed down to future generations. That's why they called it an edda.

Just like how we have special books that we read at bedtime or in school, the people in Iceland had an edda which they read and enjoyed. It's kind of like a special book that helps teach us about history and legends.

So, an edda is really just a book full of ancient stories that people in Iceland wrote down a long, long time ago to share with others and keep those stories alive.
