Edict of Potsdam

So a long time ago in a place called Europe, there were some people called Huguenots who didn't believe in the same religion as the king of France. The king didn't like that and he made rules that said the Huguenots couldn't do things like go to church or have certain jobs.

But then the king of a place called Prussia said "Hey Huguenots, come on over here! I'll let you practice your religion and be safe." This was called the Edict of Potsdam and it basically said that the Huguenots could live in Prussia and be respected for their religion.

So the Huguenots were happy and they moved to Prussia and built new homes and businesses. The king of Prussia was really nice to them and even gave them special privileges like free land and help starting businesses.

And that's how the Edict of Potsdam helped the Huguenots find a new home where they could be free to practice their religion and be safe.
