In Ireland, we go to school to learn lots of things like reading, writing, maths, science, history, art, music, and more. There are different types of schools like primary schools, secondary schools, and even special schools for kids who need extra help.
When we start school, we usually go to a primary school. We stay there for six years, from the age of four or five until we are about 11 or 12. At primary school, we learn lots of things like how to read books, write stories, do maths problems, and more. We also learn how to be kind, respectful and helpful to others.
After we finish primary school, we move on to secondary school. This is where we stay for another six years, until we are about 17 or 18. At secondary school, we learn more advanced things like science experiments, history of different countries, different types of art, and music. We also get to choose different subjects, like languages (like French or Spanish), and even sometimes get to go on school trips to other countries.
After we finish secondary school, we can go to third-level education if we want to learn even more. This is like college or university. We can study for all kinds of degrees, like law, medicine, engineering, arts, and more.
In Ireland, education is very important, and the government provides free education for all kids until they finish secondary school. That means all kids have the opportunity to learn and become whatever they want when they grow up.
