Effluent limitation

Have you ever seen a river or a stream that has some icky stuff floating in it? That's because factories and plants sometimes send their waste materials into the water, and that makes it dirty and unsafe for animals and people! That's where effluent limitation comes in.

Effluent limitation is a rule that limits the amount of pollutants and chemicals that factories and plants can put into the water. It's like a set of rules for companies that make sure they don't make the water too dirty.

The government sets these rules to help keep the environment clean and safe. The rules are based on scientific studies that show how much of each chemical is safe for animals and people.

The factories and plants are required to test their wastewater and make sure that it meets the effluent limitation standards before they release it into the water. If a company doesn't follow the rule and break it, they can get fined or even shut down.

Effluent limitation may seem like a big fancy word, but it's just a way of making sure that the water we drink and use every day is clean and healthy!
