ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Efik literature

Efik literature is the way people from a group called the Efik tell stories and share their ideas through written and spoken words. The Efik people are from a place called Calabar which is in Nigeria, in Africa. Just like when you tell a story to your friends, the Efik people also tell stories to their friends and families. But unlike just telling the story, they also write it down in a book or through a computer so that others can read it too!

Efik literature can be about anything! It could be a story about a brave hero, a love story, or even a story explaining why something is the way it is. The Efik people have been telling stories for a very long time, and their stories are passed down from generation to generation. When they tell stories, they might use things like jokes, rhymes, or songs to make it more interesting.

Sometimes, Efik literature is written in a language called Efik or in a language called English, which is their other official language in Nigeria. When people write in English, it makes it easier for other people who don't speak their language to understand what they are saying.

Efik literature is an important part of the Efik culture. It helps people to communicate and understand each other and it also helps to keep their culture alive by passing down their stories to younger generations.
