ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Eicosapentaenoic acid

Eicosapentaenoic acid (also known as EPA for short) is a special type of fat that is really good for your body. It's found in some types of fish (like salmon, tuna, and mackerel) and some types of algae.

Just like how you need to eat healthy foods to help your body grow and stay healthy, your body also needs healthy fats to work properly. EPA is one of those healthy fats and it helps keep your heart, brain, and eyes healthy.

Think of EPA like a superhero that fights off the bad guys in your body - it helps reduce inflammation (in short, inflammation is when your body gets swollen and red when it's hurt) and helps protect your body against diseases like heart disease and some types of cancer.

Eating foods that contain EPA (like fish) or taking EPA supplements can be a really great way to make sure your body has enough of this important superhero fat to help it stay healthy and strong!
