ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

El Inmigrante

Okay kiddo, let me explain to you what "el inmigrante" means.

When people talk about "el inmigrante," they are usually talking about someone who has come to live in a new country. It's kind of like when we move to a new house, but instead of moving to a new house in the same neighborhood, they are moving to a new country with different laws and language.

Now, why do people become immigrants? There are many reasons, like wanting to find a better job or wanting to be closer to family who already live in that country. Sometimes people have to leave their home country because it is not safe, and they need to go somewhere else to be safe. This is called seeking asylum.

When someone becomes an immigrant, they have to go through some legal processes to be allowed to stay in the new country. They have to get permission to live and work there, and they might have to learn a new language and culture, too.

Some people are not very nice to immigrants, though. They might say mean things or try to make them feel unwelcome. This is not okay, and everyone should be treated with kindness and respect, no matter where they come from.

So, in summary, "el inmigrante" means someone who has moved to a new country, and they might face some challenges but should be treated with respect just like anyone else.
