ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Elderly

Imagine you have a grandparent or an older person you know. The word elderly is used to describe people who are older, especially those who are 65 years or older. It's like when you have a puppy and it grows bigger and bigger over time, as we get older our age gets higher and higher. Elderly people have lived for a long time, and during that time they may have learned a lot of things and had many experiences.

As people grow older, their bodies and minds may start to change. They may move a little slower or have trouble remembering things sometimes. Sometimes they may need help with things that other people can do easily, like walking up stairs or carrying heavy things. It's important to be patient and kind to older people because they may need extra help and support.

However, just because someone is older, it doesn't mean they can't still be active and have fun. Many elderly people still enjoy doing things like playing games, going for walks, or spending time with their families and friends.

It's also important to take care of our elderly loved ones by making sure they have a safe place to live, healthy food to eat, and regular check-ups with a doctor. It's important to respect and value older people and appreciate the things they can teach us from their life experiences.
