Electromagnetic pulse

An electromagnetic pulse (or EMP) is an electric wave that is made of energy, like light and radio waves. It is made when a big burst of energy is released, like from a nuclear bomb or from a natural event like a lightning storm. The pulse of energy is like a supercharged wave that can travel through the air, damaging or destroying electronics and machines like cell phones and electric generators.
