ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Electrotachyscope

An electrotachyscope is a device that lets us see moving pictures or movies. It's like a big box with a small hole on one side for us to look through. The box has a big drum inside called a cylinder that has pictures drawn on it. These pictures are all slightly different, and when the cylinder spins around, it looks like the pictures are moving.

But wait, how does the cylinder spin around? Well, that's where electricity comes in! There is a special machine called a motor that makes the cylinder spin very fast. We plug the electrotachyscope into an outlet so that it can get the electrical energy it needs to run the motor.

Now, when we look through the hole in the electrotachyscope and the cylinder is spinning, we see the pictures moving and it looks like a movie! It's just like watching a cartoon or a video, but without all the fancy screens we have today. People used to watch movies like this a long, long time ago.
