An elevator pitch is like telling someone about yourself and what you do in a really short time, like when you're riding an elevator and you only have a few seconds to talk to someone. You want to make sure you tell them your most important information quickly and clearly, so they remember you and what you do. It's like having a special little speech that's just for when you only have a little bit of time to talk to someone.
