ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Emerging adulthood

Emerging adulthood is when someone is a bit older than a teenager but not quite a full-grown adult. Think of it like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. When you're a teenager, you're still figuring out who you are and what you want in life. But in emerging adulthood, you start to get a better idea of who you are and what you want to become.

During emerging adulthood, you may go through a lot of changes. You might go to college, start a job, or move out of your parents' house. You may also start to form more serious relationships with others, like a boyfriend or girlfriend. This is all part of trying to figure out what kind of adult you want to be.

But even though you're trying to grow up, you might still feel like you're not quite there yet. That's okay! Everyone goes at their own pace. Think of it like baking a cake - it takes time to let the cake bake and cool, just like it takes time to figure out who you are and what you want in life.

Eventually, you will grow and change, and you'll become a fully-grown adult. But for now, enjoy this time of your life and all the adventures that come with it!
