Empirical Bayes methods are a way of using data to figure out the best possible answer to a problem. We use math to look at a bunch of data and figure out the best answer. In math, this is called a model. The idea is that the model will give us an answer close to what we'd get if we looked at all of the data- so it saves us time and energy. To get an answer, we use something called Bayes Theorem, which tells us how likely something is to happen based on what we already know. So if we want to know the best answer to a problem, the Empirical Bayes Method helps us figure it out.
