ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Energy based model

An energy-based model is like a game where you have different things that have energy, and they move around and interact with each other. Think of marbles on a table. Each marble has energy because it can move around, and when it bumps into other marbles, it transfers some of its energy to them.

In an energy-based model, we can use this idea to explain how things move and change in the world around us. We can describe the energy of different things, like the positions of marbles or the positions and velocities of atoms or molecules. We can then use some fancy math (called calculus) to figure out how this energy changes over time as the different things interact with each other.

When we understand the energy of different things and how it changes over time, we can make predictions about what will happen in the future. We can use this knowledge to create simulations of things like the weather or chemical reactions, or even how people move and interact in a city.

So, an energy-based model is like a game where we track the energy of different things, and use math to figure out how they move and interact with each other, so we can make predictions about what will happen in the future.
