Engine displacement

Okay, so imagine you have a big bag of marbles. Each marble represents a bit of air that goes into an engine. When the engine is turned on, the marbles go into the engine's cylinders.

Now, the size of the cylinders where the marbles go in is what we call engine displacement. The bigger the cylinders, the more marbles can fit in there.

But why do we care about how many marbles, or engine displacement, an engine has? Well, the more marbles an engine can take in, the more power it can produce. It's like blowing up a balloon - the more air that goes in, the bigger and stronger the balloon gets.

So, when you hear people talking about engine displacement, they are basically talking about how big the engine is and how powerful it can be.
