Have you ever seen a shiny metal panel or cover with lots of little lines or swirls on it? That's called "engine turning" or "damascening."
It's like when you make a picture with crayons, but instead of using crayons, people use a special tool called a "rose engine" to make lots of lines or swirls on the metal.
Sometimes people do it to make things look cool and fancy, like on fancy car or motorcycle parts. Other times they might do it because the lines and swirls help reduce glare or reflect light in a certain way.
It takes a lot of skill and patience to make sure all the lines and swirls are just right, and sometimes people have to do it a few times to get it perfect. But once it's done, it looks really cool and makes whatever it's on look extra fancy!
