ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Enterprise risk

Enterprise risk is when a big company or organization looks at all the things that could go wrong or cause problems for them. They want to make sure they are ready for anything that could happen. It's kind of like making a plan for bad things, so they can try to avoid them or know what to do if they happen.

Let's say you are playing a game of Jenga with your friends. You know that if you pull out the wrong block, the whole tower could fall. So before you start playing, you think about what could go wrong and you try to do your best to prevent it from happening. That's kind of like enterprise risk for a big company - they think about all the things that could go wrong (like losing money or getting sued) and they try to make a plan to help prevent those things from happening or to be ready in case they do happen.

Sometimes, even with the best plans, bad things can still happen. But by thinking about all the risks beforehand, companies can help protect themselves and be more prepared to handle anything that comes their way.
