Environmental impact statement

An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is a document that looks at the potential effects a project could have on the environment. When a company or organization plans a project such as building a new road, they must look at how this project could affect the environment and the people who live there. The EIS looks at things like the air and water quality, wildlife and habitat, noise levels and energy use. The EIS helps the company or organization understand and plan for any negative effects the project might have on the environment and people living nearby.
