Environmental issues mean problems in the environment like air pollution, water pollution and a lack of clean sources of energy. In the United States, air pollution is caused by car exhaust, factories, power plants and other sources. Water pollution is caused when people dump trash and chemicals into rivers and lakes. The United States also doesn't have enough clean sources of energy, like solar and wind power, which produce electricity without causing any pollution. In order to fix these environmental issues, people can do things like riding their bikes instead of driving cars, reusing and recycling, and using clean energy sources - like filling up their car with electricity instead of gas.
