Okay kiddo, so imagine that the earth is a big, strong rock. But sometimes, things happen that can make the earth weaker in some spots. Just like when you play with a toy and it gets weaker if you tug on it too hard. When the earth gets weaker in some spots, we call that an environmental stress fracture.
This can happen in many different ways. Sometimes, people do things that harm the environment, like cutting down too many trees or polluting the air and water. Other times, natural disasters like hurricanes or earthquakes can weaken the environment too. When these things happen, it can make parts of the earth more likely to break or crack.
Just like our bodies can get weak if we don't take care of them, the earth can get weak if we don't take care of it. It's important to do our best to be good to the environment and not do things that could cause an environmental stress fracture. That way, the earth can stay strong and healthy for a long, long time.
