ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ephesians 2

Ephesians 2 is a part of the Bible where Paul, an important figure in Christianity, is writing a letter to a group of people who live in a place called Ephesus. He wants to teach them about something important - how they can become friends with God.

Paul starts off by saying that before they knew God, they were like zombies. They were always doing bad things and going against what God wanted them to do. But God is very kind and wants to be friends with everyone, including the people in Ephesus. So he sent someone special named Jesus to help them.

Jesus taught people how to be good and friends with God. He taught them to be kind to each other and to love one another. But unfortunately, some people didn't like Jesus and they did something very bad. They hurt him and made him die on a cross.

But the story doesn't end there. After three days, Jesus came back to life! This is called the resurrection. Because he came back to life, he proved that he was God's son and that all the things he said were true.

When Jesus came back to life, he made it possible for everyone to be friends with God too. All they had to do was believe in him and follow what he taught. Paul says that this is the only way for people to be friends with God - it's not something they can earn by being good or doing things right.

People who believe in Jesus and follow his teachings will be full of joy and peace. They will become a part of God's family and will always have God's love and kindness with them.

In Ephesians 2, Paul is reminding the people of Ephesus about all of this. He wants them to know that even though they used to do bad things, they can now be friends with God if they believe in Jesus.
