ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Epicurus

Epicurus was a really old man who lived a very long time ago in ancient Greece. He had many ideas that he shared with his friends about how to live a happy and peaceful life.

One of Epicurus' most important ideas was that we should not worry about things that we cannot control. For example, we cannot control the weather or what other people think about us, so we should not waste our energy on them. Instead, we should focus on what we can control, like our own thoughts and behavior.

Epicurus also believed that we should surround ourselves with good friends who make us happy and avoid people who bring us down. He thought that friendship was really important to a happy life.

Another idea that Epicurus had was that we should enjoy the simple things in life, like good food, good company, and peaceful moments. He did not believe that we needed to be rich or have extravagant things to be happy.

Lastly, Epicurus believed that death should not scare us. He thought that when we die, we simply stop existing, just like we didn't exist before we were born. So, we should not be afraid of something that we cannot control.

Overall, Epicurus believed in living a simple, peaceful, and happy life.
