Separation of church and state

Separation of church and state is a concept that means the government and religious organizations should not interfere with each other. It means that the government can't endorce (support) one religion over others, and religious organizations can't try to influence the government. This idea is important because it helps make sure that no one religion will be given more rights or privileges than any other religion. It also makes sure that religious organizations can't make laws that everyone must follow and that the government can't decide which religion everyone must follow.
