An epiretinal membrane is like a tiny piece of tissue that grows on the inside part of your eye. Kind of like when you get a little piece of lint on your clothes and you can’t get it off. This little piece of tissue can make your vision blurry or distorted.
Think of your eye like a camera. The membrane can make the camera lens (your eye) not work properly, so the pictures you see might not be clear or you might see wavy lines. It’s kind of like taking a picture through a dirty or fuzzy lens.
But don’t worry, doctors can help! They may suggest surgery called a vitrectomy. This is when tiny instruments go into your eye to remove the membrane. The surgery may help your eyesight become clearer again.
