The Cuban Revolutionary War was a war fought in Cuba in the early 1960s. It was fought between the Cuban government, led by Fidel Castro, and the Cuban people who opposed the government. The war started when Fidel Castro and his supporters overthrew the Cuban government in 1959. After that, Fidel Castro set up a new communist government in Cuba.
The Cuban people opposed the new communist government and many of them joined a group called the Cuban Revolutionary Movement. This group started a revolution against the communist government. The war lasted for about three years and saw many battles between the Cuban Revolutionary Movement and the Cuban government.
The Cuban Revolutionary War had many important episodes. One of these was the Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961, when the United States sent a group of Cuban exiles to try and overthrow the communist government. The invasion was unsuccessful and many of the exiles were killed. Another important episode was the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, when the Soviet Union secretly sent nuclear missiles to Cuba. This led to a standoff between the United States and the Soviet Union. In the end, the two sides reached an agreement and the nuclear missiles were removed from Cuba.
The Cuban Revolutionary War ended in 1964 when a peace agreement was signed between Fidel Castro and the Cuban government. After that, Fidel Castro remained in power in Cuba until his death in 2016.
