ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Equal Rights Amendment

The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is a law that would make sure that men and women have the same equal rights under the law. It's like if you and your best friend both wanted the same toy, you should both have a fair chance to play with it, right? But sometimes grown-ups think that girls and boys should only do certain things or have different rules, which isn't fair. The ERA would make it so that everyone has equal rights no matter what their gender is. It's like making a big rule that says "everyone gets to be treated the same!" Which is a good thing, right?
