Equaliser (mathematics)

An equaliser is like a machine that helps make things even. You know when you play with building blocks and you're trying to make a tower but some of the blocks are taller than others? That's kind of like what math problems can be like too. Sometimes there are different numbers that need to be made the same size so that we can do other math things with them.

So, when we use an equaliser in math, it helps us make these different numbers the same size so we can do other math stuff with them. It's a bit like putting those blocks in a machine that squishes them so they're all the same height.

For example, if we have 3 + 4 and 5 + 2, how do we know which one is bigger? Well, we can use an equaliser by making them both the same size. We can add 1 more to the 5+2, which makes it 6+3. Now we can see that 6+3 is bigger than 3+4 because they're both equal now.

So that's what an equaliser does in math - it helps us make things equal so we can figure out other math problems.
