ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Limit (category theory)

A limit in category theory is like the answer to a question you're asking. The question might be: "What's the tallest mountain in the world?". The limit is the answer - Mt. Everest!

Just like a question has an answer, if you have two things in category theory that are connected (like two mountains connected by a path) then you can ask a question about it. The limit is the answer to that question. The limit is like the highest point on the path - if you keep going along it, you won't find anything higher.
