ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Equilibrium mode distribution

Have you ever heard of the word ‘equilibrium’? Equilibrium is a big word that means ‘balance.’ This is like you are on a see-saw, and the person on the other side is also of the same weight as you. This way, both of you can go up and down without anyone falling off!

Now coming to equilibrium mode distribution, we are talking about particles that are very small and cannot be seen with our eyes. These particles are like tiny balls that are constantly moving and vibrating inside a substance. When these tiny balls are moving around continuously, they are also exchanging their energy with each other.

In equilibrium mode distribution, these tiny balls or particles are in perfect balance with each other. This means that the particles are moving around and vibrating in such a way that they are equally distributed in all directions, and their energy is distributed equally among them.

Imagine you have some candy and you want to share it with your friends. If you have three friends, you can give one candy to each of them, and you will have one candy left for yourself. This is how the energy of the particles is distributed in equilibrium mode.

So, in summary, equilibrium mode distribution is when tiny particles, which are like tiny balls, are constantly moving and exchanging their energy with each other in such a way that they are equally distributed in all directions, and their energy is distributed equally among them.
