Erawan Shrine

Do you know what a shrine is? It's like a special place where people go to show respect to something or someone they believe is important.

The Erawan Shrine is a very special shrine in Thailand. People believe that there is a powerful spirit who blesses people who come to pray at the shrine. The spirit's name is Brahma, and he is said to have four faces and eight arms – which is why the statue of him at the shrine looks a little bit different to the other statues you might have seen before.

People come to the Erawan Shrine to ask Brahma for good luck and blessings, like good health or success in their work. They might also bring gifts for Brahma – like flowers, incense or fruit – to show their respect.

The Erawan Shrine is very important to Thai people, and it's a very popular tourist attraction too! People from all over the world come to see the beautiful shrine and have their own chance to pray for good luck.
