Eriophyes tiliae

Eriophyes tiliae is a really tiny bug that likes to hang out on lime trees. It's so small that you need a special microscope to see it properly!

These little bugs don't actually hurt the lime tree itself, but they can make the leaves all weird and bumpy-looking. This happens because the eriophyes tiliae lays its eggs inside the lime tree's leaf buds. When the eggs hatch, the tiny baby bugs start to eat the inside of the leaf, which makes it grow funny.

The good news is that eriophyes tiliae is pretty harmless to humans, and there are ways to get rid of them if they're bugging you. You can use special sprays or other treatments that kill the bugs without hurting the lime tree.

So if you see a lime tree with bumpy leaves, just remember that it might be because of some tiny bugs called eriophyes tiliae. And while they might look a little strange, they're not really a big deal!
