ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Erlangen program

Erlangen Program is a set of ideas about how language works. It was developed by a German linguist named Franz Boas. It says that all languages have a common structure but they each have their own unique features. It also says that languages change over time and that new words can be added to existing ones to make new meanings. The Erlangen Program is used by linguists to study how languages are structured and how they change over time.
