ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ernst Ruska

Ernst Ruska was a very smart man who lived a long time ago. He loved to study tiny little things that you can't see with your eyes, called atoms. He wanted to find a way to look at the atoms up close and see what they were made of.

So he invented something called an electron microscope. This special kind of microscope uses tiny particles called electrons to look at things that are way too small for us to see with our eyes or regular microscopes. It's like magic glasses that let us see things we couldn't before!

Thanks to Ernst Ruska's amazing invention, scientists can now study tiny details of things like cells, viruses, and even crystals. It has helped us learn so much more about the world and how things work.
