A lunar eclipse is when the Moon and the Sun are lined up in the sky, with the Earth in the middle. The Earth's shadow blocks the light from the Sun, so the Moon looks very dark. A lunar eclipse usually lasts for a few hours, and it usually happens when there's a Full Moon.
