Lunar occultation is when the moon passes in front of something and covers it up, like a curtain. It's like when you're lying in bed at night and someone turns off the light. The moon is the light switch and it takes away the light from whatever it's in front of. Just like you can't see what's in the dark when the light goes away, during lunar occultation, we can't see whatever the moon is in front of, like stars.
