ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Esau

Esau was a person in the Bible who was the older twin brother of Jacob. They were born at the same time, but Esau came out first, which made him the older one. Esau and Jacob had very different personalities. Esau was very rough and tough, and he liked to hunt and be outside. Jacob, on the other hand, was a bit quieter and stayed more indoors.

One day when Esau came home from hunting he was very hungry, and Jacob was cooking some food. Esau asked Jacob for some food, but Jacob said he would only give it to him if Esau gave him his inheritance. This means that Esau would give his future money and property to Jacob. Esau was so hungry that he agreed and gave away his inheritance.

Years later, when their father Isaac was getting old, he wanted to bless his sons before he died. He intended to bless Esau, the older son, but Jacob tricked Isaac into blessing him instead. This made Esau very angry, and he wanted to hurt Jacob. In the end, Jacob had to run away to protect himself from Esau.

Esau's story teaches us about the importance of making good choices and not giving in to our impulsive desires, as it can have consequences later on.
