Essenes

Essenes were a Jewish religious group that existed from around the 2nd century BC to the 1st century AD. They were devoted to living a simple life of prayer, study, and service to others. They believed in living according to strict rules and avoiding contact with outsiders. They also believed in the coming of a messiah, who would bring peace and justice to the world.
